Ken's Tackle Fishing Report

Bass Opener is Expected to Be Active

Another successful week of fishing in the Otter Tail Lake area.

The Wild 104.1 two day tournament was held last Friday and Saturday.  The winning team was Olson/Stetz, who collected their 12 fish for a total weight of 37 pounds.  Excellent fishing for all teams.

The walleye bite has really picked up from earlier in the week.  Shiners are still the bait of choice, fishing in 15 to 20 feet of water.

Crappies and sunfish are going well in 4 to 6 feet of water.

Bass opener is this weekend and most lakes in the area should be good lakes for the catch.  Use a buzz bait presentation and watch them come crashing after your lure.  Bass have been active and we are expecting a better than average opener.

Muskie opener is June 5, and that should bring folks to Battle Lake for a fun time.

Upcoming tournaments on Otter Tail Lake:
June 13th - Lake Country Sportsmen - 218-495-2226
June 18 & 19 - Scott's Bait - 218-385-3390

Ken's Tackle Fishing Report

Otter Tail Lake - Great Results!

Fishing in the Otter Tail Lake area was extremely successful and the weather wasn't bad either!

Lots of smiling faces in the Otter Tail Lake area!  It had to do with the great catch and the beautiful weather.  Many said there were more boats during opener than ever before and most were catching fish.

Most walleyes were caught in 10 feet to 20 feet of water.  Fisherman are catching walleyes in the 15 to 18 inch range.  Shiners and a Lindy Rig were the best presentation.  Those using a jig and minnow were also successful.

Crawlers and leeches should also begin to produce as water temps are around 66 degrees today.  Crappies and sunfish are starting to produce with the warmer weather.  Should be a great weekend again with the nice temps!

Ken's Tackle has shiners - come on in and we hope we can put you on some eyes!
