Kens Tackle Fishing report

You'll Find Them in the Weeds!

Gary Peterson

January 30, 2012 - 7:28 PM

Ken's Tackle invites you to Otter Tail Lake for some great fishing! We continue to find jumbo perch and walleyes in 10 to 20 foot depths along the weed edges.

Fatheads, shiners, and sucker minnows are working best on jigs and setlines.

Spear fishermen are getting some large northerns. Please remember 1 northern over 30 inches is the possession limit.

Crappies are starting to take off on West Battle Lake and East Lost in 15 to 25 feet of water.

Ice is generally 18 to 20 inches and all accesses are open. It's fishing time!

Want Some Jumbo Perch?

Gary Peterson

January 14, 2012

We are glad to say that walleyes and jumbo perch are biting! Walleyes are found in 10 to 30 feet by using sucker and fathead minnows.
You can find jumbo perch in 10 feet of water around the Otter Tail Lake flats.
We are happy to say that the ice is now 12 to14 inches, the cold snap was good for something! We even see vehicles venturing out on the lake making it easier for some to fish.
Continue to be on the lake with caution, we hope that the worry is over and we can now do some serious fishing. Call or stop in Ken's Tackle on Otter Tail Lake to get directions on where you should go and have some fun.
Yes, jumbo perch up here are delicious and fun to catch! Come try it!

Attached you'll find a picture of one of Ken's Tackle's customers:  Jody Franken of Sious Center, IA.  Caught a 30 inch walleye on Otter Tail Lake with guide Ross of Meister Guide Service.

Fishing is very good on Otter Tail Lake. Ice conditions range from 0 to 14 inches. You need to get a heads up on where to go. We can help you on that.

Fish are being caught from 10 to 30 feet of water. Perch and walleyes have been very good on shiners and fatheads.

We urge you to stop in the bait shop and we'll show you were the ice ridges have formed so you can have a successful and safe experience.

Rentals are available, where our guides will get you to your destination... so you are safe and you don't need a 4 wheeler! Call for availability.

Call us at 217-495-2895 for the latest!
